Because Castleton House is at the heart of a small town, well the largest village in Wiltshire, there are plenty of places to eat within walking distance of our front door. The local Co-op, some 200 yards away, sells a selection of sandwiches, fruit and drinks if you just need a snack to eat in your room.
The George Inn is the closest, open from 6.00 pm. This cosy pub has a bar and separate restaurant .
The Walnut Tree Inn is about a 15 minute walk, or a very short drive, away. A newly built bright and airy pub with a small play park for children.
The Butt of Sherry, a little further along Castle Street, it’s a good local with a small menu – the chips are fantastic.
The list for different places to eat slightly further afield could go on for ever, the list below is just a few of the places that we particularly like.
The Bell and Crown, Zeals – 2 miles away and The Times and The Sunday Times’s 2023 ‘Pub of the Year’. It’s busy so be sure to book
The White Lion, Bourton – 2 1/2 miles away
The Fox and Hounds, East Knoyle,
The Bradley Hare – 4 miles away
The Roth Bar and Grill, Bruton
We have menu’s from a number of local pubs and restaurants in a folder in the bedrooms. If you would like us to book a table for you before your stay then just ask.
If you want to buy a take-away then I can lay spaces in the dining room for you, please let me know.
